No sound is heard when using the HDMI connection from the Blu-ray Disc player.
IMPORTANT: Not all Blu-ray Disc players or home theater systems have HDMI capabilities. To see if your Sony product has the HDMI function, check the specifications.
This issue could be caused by the volume level of the connected TV or sound system being too low or muted. It also can occur if the audio output setting of the Blu-ray Disc player is not set properly.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue:
- Try increasing the volume level or disabling the mute function of the connected TV or sound system.
- Make sure the correct input on the connected device is selected.
- Select the correct HDMI audio output setting by doing the following:
- Using the remote control for the Blu-ray Disc player, press the HOME button.
- Select the icon using the left or right arrows.
- Select Audio Settings using the up or down arrows.
- Select Audio (HDMI).
- Press the button.
- Select either Auto or 2ch PCM.
IMPORTANT: The 2ch PCM setting should be selected when connecting a TV or A/V receiver that does not support Dolby Digital or DTS technology only. Otherwise, noise or no sound may result.
- Press the ENTER button.
- Select BD Audio Mix Setting.
- Press the ENTER button.
- Select Off.
- Press the ENTER button.
NOTE: The BD Audio Mix setting should only be set to On when listening to audio data such as button sounds and commentaries.
- Press the TOP MENU button in order to begin normal operation.
NOTE: If you are using a BRAVIA TV as a monitor, set the speaker output to AV AMP.
