The Screen Reader and Talkback functions work by vocalizing the information on TV screen, such as program guide and setting screen. In order to use the Screen Reader or Talkback function, an Internet connection is necessary.
The setting of the Screen Reader or Talkback function can be confirmed by the following procedure.
Notes:
- The Screen Reader function is supported for the W8 and X7 series only.
- The Screen Reader and Talkback functions are available only for focus points and some texts.
- The Screen Reader and Talkback functions are available only for some areas and languages.
- Whether a given app is available with the Screen Reader function depends on the app.
- As of February 2020, YouTube™ is available with the Screen Reader and Talkback functions. The specification may change without notice.
- To check the type of your TV, refer to the article How to check if your BRAVIA TV is a Google TV™, Android TV™, or other TV.
Activating the Screen Reader or Talkback from the Settings screen
For Google TV™
- On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
- Select Settings and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select System and press the Enter button.
- Press the Enter button to select Accessibility and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Talkback and press the Enter button.
- Select Enable and press the Enter button.
- Select OK and press the Enter button.
- Press the HOME button to exit.
For Android TV™
- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Since Settings icon is located on the upper right corner of the Home menu, press and hold the Up arrow button for about three seconds and then press and hold the Right arrow button for about two seconds to select Settings then press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Device Preferences and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Accessibility and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Screen Reader or Talkback and press the Enter button.
- Select Enable and press the Enter button.
- Select OK and press the Enter button.
- Press the HOME button to exit.
Stopping the Screen Reader or Talkback from the Settings screen
For Google TV
- On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
- Select Settings and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select System and press the Enter button.
- Press the Enter button to select Accessibility and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Talkback and press the Enter button.
- In order to stop Talkback, press the Enter button when you hear “Enable, On." It will switch Talkback setting to Off.
- When you hear "OK", press the Enter button to stop Talkback.
- Press the HOME button to exit.
For Android TV
- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Since Settings icon is located on the upper right corner of the Home menu, press and hold the Up arrow button for about three seconds and then press and hold the Right arrow button for about two seconds to select Settings then press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Device Preferences and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Accessibility and press the Enter button.
- Press the Down arrow button to select Screen Reader or Talkback and press the Enter button.
- In order to stop Screen Reader or Talkback, press the Enter button when you hear “Enable, On." It will switch Screen Reader or Talkback setting to Off.
- When you hear "OK", press the Enter button to stop Screen Reader or Talkback.
- Press the HOME button to exit.
