Why can't system restoration be carried out?
System restoration cannot be carried out.
The VAIO computer cannot restore the system to the restoration point that is created after 8 September 2001, unless the correction program offered by Microsoft is applied.
After confirming the above, please refer to the procedures below.
A. To check if the system restoration option is enabled
1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel. Double-click the System icon. The System Properties dialog box appears.
2. Click the Performance tab and click File System.
3. Click the Troubleshooting tab. If the Disable System Restore checkbox is selected, disable it.
Note: All restore points saved on the hard disk will be deleted if the Disable System Restore checkbox is selected and clicking OK to restart Windows.
B. To check the Startup programs
- Whether *stateMgr, SchedulingAgent, and PCHealth is enabled
1. Click Start and click Run.
2. In the Open text box, type msconfig and click OK.
3. In System Configuration Utility, click the Startup tab and check if the *StateMgr, SchedulingAgent, and PCHealth checkbox are selected.
Select the checkboxes that are unselected and click OK.
C. To check if there is enough free space on the hard disk
Check if there is more than 200 MB of free space on the hard disk (on the partition that stores the Windows System folder.) The system restoration will be disabled if there is insufficient free space.
