How to check for disk errors?
Checking for disk errors.
To check if there is any logical and/or physical errors existing in the hard disk, use Scan Disk. It will also be able to recover the damaged areas.
A. To check the errors of files and folders
1. Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scan Disk.
2. Click on the desired drive to carry out Scan Disk.
To select multiple drives at one time, click the drives while holding the CTRL key.
3. Select the Standard option.
4. To recover the detected errors, select the Automatically fix errors option.
5. Click Start and the disk error check starts.
B. To check the errors of clusters, files and folders
1. Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scan Disk.
2. Click on the desired drive to carry out Scan Disk.
To select multiple drives at one time, click the drives while holding the CTRL key.
3. Select the Throughout option.
4. To specify the procedure of checking clusters, click Options.
5. Change the settings and click OK.
6. To recover the detected errors, select the Automatically fix errors option.
7. Click Start.
