Why does the error message LSA Shell (Export Version) has encountered a problem and needs to close appear and the computer restarts or shutdown for Windows® XP and Windows® 2000?

    The computer starts to count down for restarting after displaying the following error messages:

    Err Msg: LSA Shell (Export Version) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveniences.

    Err Msg: This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

    This symptom is due to the W32.Sasser.Worm virus which causes the computer to restart continuously once connected to the Internet.

    * VAIO Models That Are Affected
    VAIO computers preinstalled with:
    - Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional
    - Microsoft® Windows® XP Home
    - Microsoft® Windows® 2000

    Note: VAIO computers preinstalled with other versions of Operating System are not affected.
    However, computers that are upgraded to Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, Microsoft® Windows® XP Home or Microsoft® Windows® 2000 will be affected.

    To resolve this symptom, W32.Sasser.Worm must be removed and Microsoft® Windows Security Bullentin MS04-011 has to be installed.
