    About this download

    In our announcement titled "Free Repair Program for VAIO Fit 11A Personal Computer" on Apr 24, 2014, we advised that we had started repairing the affected PCs.

    The battery packs on those affected VAIO Fit 11A PCs have the potential to overheat resulting in partial burns to the housing of the PC. For customers who have one or more of the affected models, that have not been repaired, please contact your local Contact Centre/Service Centre for repair assistance.

    BIOS Update program （BIOS version R0250DE and later versions）will disable the battery charging function of the battery packs on the affected PCs. If the battery packs have been repaired, the battery charging function of your PCs will not be affected by the BIOS software update.

    This program will update BIOS to version R0270DE and will resolve the following:

    - BIOS update for vulnerabilities.

    Notes:

    • During the installation of this update:
      - Do not turn the computer off.
      - Do not allow the computer to enter Standby or Hibernation states.
      - Do not start other programs.
      - Do not connect any peripherals.
    • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
    • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.

    WARNING!! Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly.

    1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
    2. Download the EP0000601397.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
    3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the EP0000601397.exe file to begin the installation.
    4. Please read the WARNING note for Microsoft® BitLocker™ security. Follow the on-screen instructions, then click OK to continue.
    5. At the User Account Control screen, click Yes.
    6. At the VAIO Firmware Update Tool screen, confirm that the version to be installed is R0270DE, then click Update.
    7. At The system will restart. Are you sure you want to update the VAIO firmware? dialog, click OK.

    Note: The computer will automatically shut down when the BIOS update is complete.

    1. After the computer shuts down, wait for 60 seconds, then power on the computer.
    2. After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS Update is complete

    Please follow the steps below to verify that the installation was successful

    1. Search VAIO Care (Desktop) and open the Sony Apps.
    2. Click About Your VAIO.
    3. Click System Information.
    4. Verify that the file version is R0270DE
