Camera Accessibility Functions

Screen Reader
When an external monitor is connected via HDMI and audio output is enabled, this function reads aloud information such as menu screens or messages.
Only some languages may be supported for this function depending on the model. This function is available only when the language set in the menu is supported by this function.

How to enable the screen reader function
To always enable the screen reader function, press and hold the MENU button on the initial setup screen, which is displayed on the external monitor after you turn the camera on for the first time. The screen reader function will be enabled.
Once you use the screen reader function on the initial setup screen, the screen reader function will be kept enabled after the initial setup, and you can switch on and off for the screen reader function by pressing and holding the MENU button.
The MENU button is located on the rear side of the camera, slightly above the center, and is the rightmost of three buttons in a horizontal row.
If you have not used the screen reader function on the initial setup screen, you can enable the function from the MENU.
On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
Select (Setup) → Accessibility → Screen Reader → Screen Reader → On

On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
Select (Setup) → Accessibility → Screen Reader → Speed → Sets the speed when reading aloud.

How to enable the screen reader function by pressing and holding the MENU button
On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
Select (Setup) → Accessibility → Screen Reader → Long Press to Switch → On
Select (Setup) → Accessibility → Screen Reader → Long Press to Switch → On
Enlarge Screen
This function enlarges the menu screen display on the external monitor for better readability of the text. (Some MENU screens do not support the enlarging function.)
On the menu screen, press the (Enlarge) button set by Enlarge Menu Scrn to enlarge the screen display. Each time you press the button, the magnification scale changes.

On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
Select(Setup) → Accessibility → Enlarge Screen → Enlarge Menu Scrn → On (Button)

Select(Setup) → Accessibility → Enlarge Screen → Magnification → Select the magnification to use for the function to enlarge the screen display.

Focus Magnifier
This function lets you check the focus by enlarging the image before shooting.
How to enable the focus magnifier function
On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
- Select (Focus) → Focus Assistant → Focus Magnifier
- Press the center of the control wheel to enlarge the image and select the area you want to enlarge using top/bottom/left/right side of the control wheel.
Focus Map (Movie)
When shooting a movie, this function displays areas that are in focus and areas that are out of focus so that you can visually distinguish them. Areas behind the in-focus region are indicated by dots in a cool color and those in front of the in-focus region are indicated by dots in a warm color.
How to enable the focus map function
On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
Select (Focus) → Focus Assistant → Focus Map → On
Select (Focus) → Focus Assistant → Focus Map → On
Subject Recognition in AF
If you set the subject in advance, this function enables the camera to automatically recognize the subject and focus on the eyes, etc. when shooting images. The camera focuses on the eye, head, body, or entirety of the subject recognized in or around the designated Focus Area. When shooting still images, the camera focuses on the subject when you press the shutter button halfway down. When shooting movies, the camera will focus on the recognized subject, even if you do not press the shutter button.
How to enable the subject recognition in AF function
On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
- Select (Focus) → Subject Recognition → Subject Recog in AF → On
- Select (Focus) → Subject Recognition → Recognition Target → Select a subject.
Custom function
This function lets you assign the functions you use most frequently to easily operable buttons. This lets you skip the process of selecting items from the menu screen, so you can recall the functions more quickly. You can separately assign functions to buttons for still image shooting mode and movie shooting mode.
How to enable the custom function
On the MENU screen, configure the following settings:
To assign a function to a button or dial, select (Setup) → Operation Customize → Custom Key Setting or Custom Key Setting
