How to change the operating system language in Windows 8 and 8.1.

The operating system has several languages already preinstalled allowing you to read and type in those languages. If the language you want is not preinstalled, you can easily download and install that language pack.

    1. Press the Windows Logo + X key combination on the keyboard and, from the list, click Control Panel.

NOTES: Because the Control Panel is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and the Control Panel window will open.

    2. In the Control Panel window, under Clock, Language and Region, click Add a language.
    3. In the Language window, click Add a language.

      NOTES:

      • If a language is not already installed, you will need to download a language pack in the language you want. If a language pack is needed, you will see Available for download next to the language. Click Options button next to that language and then follow the on-screen instructions to install that language pack.
      • For this demonstration we will choose the Spanish language, but any listed language will perform in a similar fashion.
      • If the selected language has regional variations, as is the case with our example, then a Regional variants screen will appear and you will need to click to select the desired language variation, and then click the Add button.
