How to enable or disable Windows firewall in Windows XP?

The steps will be different if the computer is installed with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
If Windows XP Service Pack 2 is installed, user can open Windows Firewall via Security Center.

Please refer to the following information about how to enable or disable Internet firewall.

1. Open the Network Connections in Control Panel, right click the network connection icon with firewall function which user wants to enable, click Properties.
   Please refer to the information below on the detailed steps.
   
   

2. Click Advanced in (Connection name) Properties.
   

3. In the column of Internet Connection Firewall, check Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet, and then click OK.
   
   
   
   
   • Enable firewall
     Check Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet.
     Click Settings... for more options.

   • Disable firewall
     Uncheck Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet.
   
   Complete above settings.
