Why cannot perform system restore in Windows XP?
- Cannot run System Restore.
- Cannot create system check point automatically.
Please confirm the contents below when such symptom occurs.
■ Whether startup System Restore ?
■ Whether the System Restore Service is running ?
■ Whether the hard disk has enough free space ?
■ Whether user can use System Restore tools in safe mode ?
■ Whether has the record about the reasons of such phenomenon ?
Please confirm whether accords with the conditions below respectively.
■ Error messages related to System Restore display.
■ Cannot restore printer driver.

■ Whether start System Restore?
Please confirm whether start System Restore.
Please refer to the steps below.
- Click Start, and then Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance.
- Click Sysytem.
- Click System Restore tab to confirm whether select Turn off System Restore on all drives.
Note:
When Turn off System Restore cannot be select on all drives, and then click OK. After that, when the computer is restarted, all the System Restore points saved on hard Disks will be deleted.

■ Whether the System Restore Service is running ?
● How to confirm in Computer Management.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance.
- Click Adminstrative Tools.
- Double-click Computer Management.
- Click + located beside Services and Applications.
- Click Services.
- If the status of System Restore Service, located at the right pane,is not Started, please right-click System Restore Service to select Start.
● How to confirm in Command Prompt?
- Click Start, and then Run.
- Type cmd in run, and then click OK.
- Type Net Start and then press key Enter.
- Confirm whether System Restore Service appears under the title These Windows services are started:.
If not, please refer to● How to confirm in Computer Management.. Set System Restore Service to Started.
■ Whether the hard disk has enough free space
Please confirm there is more than 200 MB free space in the hard disk(the one installed with the Operation System.).
If the free space is not enough, System Restore cannot be started.
When the free space is too small, System Restore point maybe lost.
Please enlarge the free space by running Disk Cleanup.

Please confirm whether System Restore tools can be used in safe mode.
■ Whether has the record about the reasons of such symptom?
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance.
- Click Administrative Tools.
- Double-click Computer Management.
- Click + of Event Viewer under System Tools located on the left.
- Click System.
- Click Source in the right side,
■ Error messages related to System Restore display.
When error messages related to System Restore appear, please record them and resolve accordingly.
Generally users are able to find related record about problems and solutions in error messages related to System Restore .
■ Cannot restore printer driver.
Printer driver cannot restore to the previous status even System Restore is running.
Users can open (printer name)Properties, and then select Drivers in Advanced, and then select the lastest driver, and then click OK.
