    What to do after installing Windows Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Security Alert appears when software is running in Windows XP?

    After installing Service Pack 2, Windows Security Alert appears when running the software which needs to use network.
    This Windows Security Alert is sent by Windows firewall.
    Windows firewall functions are enabled.

    Windows firewall is to monitor and restrict information that travels between the computer and a network or the Internet. Windows Security Alert pops up when the computer gets unsolicited request and asks if user wants to block or allow the connection.
    When Windows Security Alert pops up, if user wants to keep connecting, choose to unblock it. If it is a virus or if user doesn't want to allow the connection, user can keep blocking it.

    If the name or source of the software user is trying to install onto VAIO is trusted, click Unblock on the Windows Security Alert.

    Note
    After user clicks Unblock, Windows Security Alert will not appear when running the software next time.






    Remark
    The following situations may occur after clicking the buttons.
    • If clicking Keep Blocking,
      the PC can not use outside connection via the software.

    • If clicking Unblock,
      the PC can use outside connection via the software.

    • If clicking Ask Me Later,
      Windows Security Alert pops up when user runs the software every time.

    In addition, even if user chooses Keep Blocking or Unblock, user can change this setting.
