How to search pictures or videos with Windows Photo Gallery in Windows Vista?

Windows Photo Gallery can be easily used to search pictures or photos.
There are several methods displayed in the Navigation Tree to search for pictures and videos, we can search for the desired files according to your specific requirements. 

Through the functions of Hover Thumbnail, when the mouse pointer is directly over a file, the contents of image, file name, file size and update date of thumbnail will be shown and target files can be judged.
 

For how to search for pictures or videos using Windows Photo Gallery, please refer to the following steps.
The Navigation Tree can be used to select the items below:

■ All Pictures and Videos
■ Tag
■ Date Taken 
■ Ratings
■ Folder

When keywords such as file name, folder name or tag are known, we can carry out quick search.  

■Search

■ Search Folder
Click All Pictures and Videos, to display all items in Windows Photo Gallery.
Click Pictures or Videos, to display pictures and videos only.
Click Recently Imported, to display the files which have been viewed in the past 30 days.
 

■ Tag

A Tag is a keyword used to classify the photo or image for organizational purposes.
Several tags can be used in one image and one tag can be used in several photos.
The following is an example of clicking flower in the Tag column.
This displays the files with a tag of flower.

■ Date Taken

Digital cameras and digital photos can record the taken date of a static image or a dynamic image automatically.
According to this information, a static image and a dynamic image can be viewed by year, month or date.
The following is an example of clicking May 2005 in Date Taken.
This displays the photos from May, 2005.
 

■ Ratings

In order to see your favorite photos immediately, they can rated with 5 stars in Windows Photo Gallery.
The following is an example of clicking ★★★★★ for Ratings.
This displays the files with a rating of 5 stars.

■ Folder

To clean up pictures or videos, we can add them into Folders in Windows Photo Gallery, the updated contents of Explorer or Windows Photo Gallery will be displayed in the Navigation Tree.
The following is an example of clicking Sample Picture in Public Pictures.
This displays files in the Sample Picture folder.
 

■ Search

The contents of a file name, folder name or tag can be quickly searched simultaneously by search box in Windows Photo Gallery.
