When the computer runs slow
The PC runs (processes) slow. Comparing the computer with other computers with the equivalent specifications (CPU, memories, and so on), this computer runs very slow.
or
When I execute instructions that consume the CPU power such as the MPEG file playback, the computer returns to the startup speed.
or
What shall I do to prevent the computer from slowing down?
The processing speed may be slowed down depending on the operating environment. The following cases are examples. Perform any of the following:
1) When many applications are being executed:
- Close some applications to reduce the number of running applications.
2) When many files are not optimized:
- Execute the Disk Defragmenter program.
- Click [Start]->[Programs]->[Accessories]->[System Tools] and select the [Disk Defragmenter]
3) When a TSR program exists:
- Remove the TSR program.
- Click [Start]->[Run]. On the Run dialog box, input "Msconfig" and click [OK].
- Select the [Startup] tab on the system setup utility screen. By deselecting items, you can release the program.
[Additional information]
The above settings may not release all the TSR programs. For the settings of each TSR program, contact the manufacturer of the application software. Note that some TSR programs are necessary when using Windows.
4) When the computer often swaps (this can be checked by System Monitor):
- There may be no room in memory. Restart the PC regularly.
- Add memory if the computer often swaps to start an application. Check the system requirements of the application software before adding memory. Note that the situation may not be improved drastically by adding memory.
[Remarks]
When the computer is connected to network, the operation speed may be slowed down. Some virus program may slow down the computer.
In either case, the system may often be interrupted.
