LED backlight feature and Find remote feature for Sony's Google TV™
IMPORTANT: This article only applies to specific products. Please check the Applicable Products of this article.
1. Backlight feature
What’s special about the backlit remote control?
Sony’s backlit remote control lets you operate your TV in complete darkness. The remote is motion-sensitive, so its entire button surface lights up automatically when you pick it up. The remote also connects to your TV via Bluetooth and no longer relies on infrared signals. As a result, you don’t have to point it at your TV to change channels or adjust the volume.
Notes:
- The remote control design and specifications vary depending on your country/region, or TV model.
- Only the power button on the remote control uses infrared communication, meaning you need to point the remote at the TV to turn it on or off.
How to disable the remote control’s backlight
Follow the steps below:
- On the remote control, press and hold the VOL – (Volume minus) and (HOME) buttons at the same time for two seconds.
- Release those buttons when the MIC (Microphone) LED on the remote control lights up twice.
- To turn the backlight back on, perform steps 1 and 2 again.
2. Find remote feature
IMPORTANT: This feature is only available if the bundled remote control has speaker holes on the back.
The supplied TV remote control has a feature that uses a built-in buzzer to help you find the remote when it's been misplaced (for example, hidden under a cushion or newspaper).
Follow the steps below to activate the Find remote feature:
- Press the power button on the TV. A menu will appear on the TV screen.
Note: The location of the power button differs depending on the TV model. The images below are only examples, so please refer to your TV manual for details.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and select Find remote on the displayed menu. A buzzer will play from the remote control.
Notes:
- The Find remote option, which appears by pressing the power button on the TV, is only available when a remote control with a built-in buzzer is paired with the TV.
- There is a limit to the distance you can search for the remote control from your TV. The buzzer will not play from the remote in places where the signals do not reach.
