The volume turns to maximum when I connect the wireless headset to a Bluetooth device.

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

Depending on the Bluetooth device (such as a smartphone), this issue can occur if the volume is not properly linked with the headset.

If this is the case, either the volume of the headset turns to maximum, or the volume cannot be adjusted. If the volume of the headphones is maximum, remove the headset, then try the following:

1. Adjust the volume using the Bluetooth device

   Adjust the volume using the Bluetooth device, then connect the headset and check to see if the volume can be adjusted. If the volume of the headset still cannot be adjusted, proceed to the next step.

2. Reset the headphones

   Select your model for details:

   WF-SP800N 

   1. Reset the headset.
   2. After resetting, check the issue was resolved.

   WF-1000XM3 

   1. Place the headset in the charging case, leave the lid of the charging case open, then hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left unit for about 20 seconds.
      
      

   2. Release your finger when the indicator (red) of the headset turns off after flashing.
      NOTES: 

      • If the indicator (red) did not flash in Step 1, you may need to hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left side of the headset for about 30 seconds.
      • You may be able to continue even if the indicator (red) does not flash.

   3. Hold your finger to the touch sensor on the right unit for about 20 seconds.
      

   4. Release your finger when the indicator (red) of the headset turns off after flashing.
      NOTES: 

      • If the indicator (red) did not flash in Step 3, you may need to hold your finger to the touch sensor on the right side of the headset for about 30 seconds.
      • You may be able to continue even if the indicator (red) does not flash.
      • The indicator (red) light may be lit after the reset is finished.

   5. Check to see if the issue is resolved after resetting.

3. Initialize the headset and pair again

   Select your model for details:

   WF-SP800N 

   1. Initialize the headset.
   2. After initializing, connect and pair with a Bluetooth device, then check to see if the issue was resolved.

   WF-1000XM3

   1. Place the headset in the charging case, leave the lid of the charging case open, then hold your fingers to the touch sensors on both the left and right units for about 10 seconds. 
   2. Release your fingers when the indicators (red) of the headset start flashing.
   3. The indicators (blue) flash 4 times, and the headset is initialized. 
   4. Delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

   5. Connect and pair with another Bluetooth device, then check to see if the issue was resolved.

If the issue is still unresolved, the wireless headset may need servicing.
