Creating a System Recovery Disk using VAIO Recovery Utility.
Note: The number of required DVD-R (DVD+R) varies depending on the models. For some CD-R models on which the recovery disk cannot be created, please use a DVD. The recovery disk cannot be created using a Blu-ray disc, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM or CD-RW.
Below are the steps to create a recovery disc using a DVD-R.
1. Click Start, and select All Programs - VAIO Recovery Tool - VAIO Recovery Utility.
2. Select Create Recovery Media Kit and click OK.

3. Click Next.
4. Confirm that the Use 2 DVD-R or DVD+R (4.7 GB) disc(s) box is selected. Click Next.
Note: When DVD-R DL or DVD+R DL are required for creating the recovery disc, click the Use 1 DVD-R or DVD+R (Double Layer/8.5GB) disc(s) option.
When CD-R is required for creating the recovery disc, click the Use 11 CD-R disc(s) option.
The number of required disks varies depending on the models.
5. Click Start in the displayed window.
6. Insert a blank DVD-R and click OK. The computer will start creating an application recovery disc.
7. After the process finishes, remove the DVD-R, and mark (model name) Application Recovery Disc on the DVD-R. Click OK to close the window.
8. Insert another blank DVD-R and click OK. The computer will then start creating a system recovery disc.
9. After the process finishes, remove the DVD-R, and mark (model name) System Recovery Disc on the DVD-R. Click OK to close the window.
