Some of the Windows 8 operating system drivers are not available after upgrading from the Windows 7 operating system.
The reasons a Windows 8 driver is not available will differ based on the method used to upgrade to the Windows 8 operating system:
IMPORTANT: Not all Sony computers are supported for the Windows 8 operating system upgrade.
- The recommended option when moving from the Windows 7 to the Windows 8 operating system is to perform an Upgrade procedure. If you have performed an Upgrade procedure and a Windows 8 driver is not available, then it is not required, because the original Windows 7 driver was automatically imported and will work correctly.
- If you have performed a Clean Install procedure when moving from the Windows 7 to the Windows 8 operating system, you will need to use the drivers supplied by Microsoft within the Windows 8 operating system.
NOTE: In the event a Microsoft supplied driver installation fails, then it is recommended to install the most current and compatible Windows 7 driver from model specific eSupport website, available through the Drivers & Software link on this page.
In either case, a Windows 8 specific driver may not be required. This is the most common reason the Windows 8 operating system driver is not available.
