How to perform a System Recovery on Windows 8 operating system?

    This procedure is only applicable for computer with preinstalled Windows 8 operating system.

     

    Notes:

    • Pressing F10 key during boot will no longer bring the user to the VAIO Care Rescue Mode.
    • Press the F2 key during boot will no longer bring the user to the BIOS setup menu.
    1. Confirm that the computer is turned-off.
    2. Press the Assist Button. Please refer to the User Guide Manual to locate the Assist Button for your personal computer.
    3. VAIO Care Rescue Mode is launched.
    4. There are 7 options to choose from:
      • Recover or maintain your System [F10].
        • This option allows the user to perform a system recovery back to factory condition.
      • Start from media (USB device/optical disc) [F11].
        • This option allows the user to boot from a CD/DVD or from a USB device.
      • Start BIOS [F2].
        • This option allows the user to enter BIOS and made modifications to their system.
      • Shut down [F4].
        • This option allows the user to shut down the Personal Computer.
      • Start Windows [Esc].
        • This option allows the user to boot into Windows.
      • Select language [F1].
        • This option allows the user to select a different languages.
    5. Select Recover or maintain your System [F10].
    6. Select the keyboard layout at the Choose your keyboard layout menu.
    7. Select Troubleshooter at the Choose an option menu.
    8. Select Recovery and maintenance at the Troubleshoot menu.
    9. Select Windows 8 at the Recovery Tool menu.
    10. VAIO Care Rescue Mode menu is displayed.
    11. Select Start recovery wizard.
    12. Select Skip rescue.
    13. Select Yes, I’m sure. and then select Start recovery.
