How to configure the computer to use a Static IP address while connected to a Docking Station (Port Replicator)?

Configuring the computer to use a Static IP address while connected to a Docking Station (Port Replicator).

    1. Connect the computer to the Docking Station (Port Replicator), and then start it normally.
    2. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
    3. In the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet.
    4. In the Network and Internet window, click Network and Sharing Center.
    5. In the Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Center window, on the left side column, click Manage Network Connections.
    6. In the Network Connections window, right-click the Local Area Connection that belongs to the Docking Station (Port Replicator), and then click Properties.

    NOTES:
    * The computer comes with one Ethernet port, but when using a Docking Station (Port Replicator) that also includes an Ethernet port, the Network Connections window will display two Ethernet ports; the one from the computer and the one from the Docking Station (Port Replicator).
    * If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password or click Continue. 
    7. In the Local Area Connection Properties window, click to highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/Ipv4), and then click the Properties button.
    8. In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/Ipv4) Properties window, click to select Use the following IP address, and then enter the correct configuration settings for the IP address, the Subnet Mask, and the Default Gateway.
    9. If you need to manually configure the DNS, click to select Use the following DNS server address, and then enter the correct configuration settings for the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server.
    10. Once all the correct IP address and DNS configuration settings have been entered, click the OK button.
    11. In the Local Area Connection Properties window, click the Close button.
    12. In the Network Connections window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
    13. In the Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Center window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
